Our Story

Blakes Television Store was founded in 1953 by Edward Albert Blakey and his wife Aline Erwin Blakey, parents to Don Blakey. Originally located at 703 Main Street in downtown North Little Rock, the store moved to 321 main Street eighteen years after opening. Blake's Television Store was operated by Ed and Aline with their daughters, Pat and Joan, filling in as each became old enough to contribute to the operation of the business. As the youngest child, Don began to be more involved in the business, and was called to take over when Ed's health necessitated the need for retirement.
In January of 1973, Don took over the store operations completely. In September of 1975, he moved the business to 321 Main Street in North Little Rock. Due to Urban Renewals' efforts to revitalize the downtown area, two stores were remodeled into one. Maintaining the mezzanine meant there was over 12,000 square feet of display space compared to the 2,000 square feet at the old location. This allowed him to add furniture to his Television and Appliance Store, thus changing the name to Blake's Furniture and Appliances.
Blake's "strength" has always been "one on one customer service". It makes it so much easier to do business and get to know your customers when you are on the floor every day. We are proud to say we are a Mom and Pop operation and wouldn't have it any other way.
January 2013 started our year long celebration of 60 successful years in business. Blake's has a full line of furniture and appliances such as G,E., Hotpoint, Chromcraft, Best Chair, Orleans, Harden, Coaster, Steve Silver, Corsicana Bedding, Stacey, Howard Miller Clocks, and many others.
